A beaming Rodrigo Muniz was delighted to score another fantastic Fulham winner as the Whites staged a stirring second half fightback to win at Newcastle United this afternoon.
The Brazilian striker touched in the winner from compatriot Andreas Pereira’s free-kick after Raul jimenez’s deflected effort had cancelled out Jacob Murphy’s first half opener for the Magpies. Speaking to Premier League Productions after the final whistle at St. James’ Park, Muniz revealed he had predicted how pivotal he and Pereira might prove at half time:
“I spoke to Andreas at half time. I said to him: ‘I need one assist [from you] and I will score’ and it happened. God is good! I spoke to him after the foul. I knew where he was going to put the ball. Our manager said to us we needed to give everything in the second half – and it happened.”
Muniz reiterated that he is happy to fulfil Marco Silva’s instructions as a substitute and puts his goalscoring exploits down to his hard graft at Motspur Park.
“Always when I play [for Fulham], I will give one hundred per cent [for the team]. I train hard every day so that when I have a chance, I can score. We need to play well, like today, in every game we play.”
Great to see Rodrigo thriving on and off the pitch. His English is excellent for someone who couldn’t speak the language when he came here. He’s like the little son you’re ever so proud of!
Brilliant day sitting up in the clouds. Team was superb and the fans were noisy. Fully deserved victory.
