Fulham will make a late call on the fitness of midfield duo Tom Cairney and Emile Smith Rowe for tomorrow night’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Head coach Marco Silva confirmed that Smith Rowe, who was substituted after injuring his ankle in the second half of Saturday’s defeat by Crystal Palace, has suffered an ankle injury whilst captain Cairney was also substituted after picking up a knee problem having replaced Smith Rowe. Silva insisted that both players could make his squad and he will leave the decision as late as possible.
“We’re going to have another training session today and we’re going to assess the players when they start to arrive at the training ground. After that, we have to take important decisions for the game tomorrow and right now it’s difficult to say who will be ready. The game is really close, so let’s see if they can be ready.”
Silva disclosed that Cairney’s injury is less serious that the chronic knee issues that the Scottish international has experienced during his decade at Craven Cottage.
“It’s not a really serious type of injury. It’s something you can be quickly over or can take one or two more days, let’s see,”
In my view a good excuse to leave both EMS and Cairney out of the squad for this match which will be physical. Give Josh King and start and replace Anderson with Diop
I’m sorry but Cairney offers nothing and the team won’t miss him. He will probably be moonlighting on Sky’s football panel tomorrow night.
