Marco Silva slaughtered a journalist’s line of questioning in the aftermath of Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool this afternoon.
The Fulham head coach passionately defended his side’s conduct after an entertaining encounter at Anfield and was incensed that the first question in his post-match interview surrounded a contentious challenge by goalscorer Andreas Pereira.
Silva was astonished at being asked about Pereira escaping a red card for a tackle on Ryan Gravenberch and Issa Diop’s early clash with Luis Diaz – and disagreed with the assertion that Fulham’s players were fortunate.
“Do you think? And the fouls from Liverpool, they are not close to red cards, no? I didn’t see these moments, but you have all of them. If I go inside, I can probably give you some more 50/50 decisions from the referee, but you have two. If you go through the whole game, you are going to see 50/50s against them, for sure.
I want to talk about the game, but if you are asking me about two 50/50 moments, we are going to be here all afternoon. It’s better to talk about the game. It’s tough to play at Anfield and I think our guys did really well. Liverpool can complain about the red card, since it’s a foul [from Robertson], it should be a red card. I can complain about the first goal that they scored because the foul on Kenny [Tete].”
Well said Marco it as if your not allowed to send there players off Why? It proves again this love affair the media have with their darling big clubs ie Liverpool and Man Utd Man City if Fulham had won they would have found fault with every move the Media don’t like clubs like Fulham Brighton etc getting better that’s why the Media are pushing for Liverpool to sign Robinson,Anderson, etc it stinks And luckily Marco has seen thru them Fulham deserved their result today but the Media don’t think so
If VAR looked at Gakpo’s goal and didn’t see Luiz’s pull on Tete’s arm what game were they watching? They should at least have got the onfield ref to look at it on the monitor.
This is proof that Silva absolutely gets Fulham – and can’t ever be allowed to leave Craven Cottage.
He rightly gets angry at a ridiculous opening to an interview. That journalist was looking for a headline or controversy rather than reacting to a great game. We are very lucky to be watching Marco Silva take Fulham to new heights. It wasn’t so long ago that the Whites would go up and down in consecutive campaigns regardless of how much money the Khans put in.
Well said everyone. Referees and journalists always favour the big teams. What about the Liverpool playet who kicked Cuenca in the face, what about the Liverpool player who squared up to Tete and laid hands on him.
Quite right Marco. Lets talk about the game. Great game to watch never a dull moment. Credit to both teams.
Journalist was probably from the Liverpool Echo.
I agree that the big clubs get the more favourable press comments. I am sick of hearing how magnificent Liverpool were in coming back from being behind twice with 10 men. But none of the reports I read praised Fulham for taking them to the brink of defeat.
