The chances of Andreas Pereira joining Palmeiras during the January transfer window appear to have receded dramatically, according to reports in the Brazilian press.
Palmeiras have seen two bids rejected over the past fortnight and are awaiting a formal response to their latest £12m offer. Monday’s O Globo quoted Pereira’s agent as suggesting that a move wasn’t imminent and that the Londoners are not keen on letting the former Manchester United man leave Craven Cottage in January. This matches with Marco Silva’s insistence last week that the 28 year-old will have to submit a formal transfer request to leave the club.
ESPN Brazil reports today that Pereira himself is bothered by the furore surrounding Palmeiras’ interest and, intriguingly, contains a suggestion that the Brazilian international ‘doesn’t rule out’ extending his Fulham contract, which currently runs until 2026. There is also the inference that Pereira’s reluctance to return to his home land has more to do with potential offers from European clubs, including Marseille, who he raved about in a previous interview.
Stop throwing fuel on the fire. He is a Fulham player who has helped the team achieve three respectable league positions. Some might not like his attitude but continuously denigrating our own players doesn’t really help. I wish there were other players who could take his place by having an outstanding performance, sadly this ain’t happening. Smith Rowe has yet to show why why paid so much for him last summer. Let us focus on getting a result at Ipswich.
AP continually flatters to deceive. For all his supposed dead ball quality, how many goals has that produced? If there was a prize for hitting the woodwork, then he’d definitely be a contender. I’m not saying they’re comparable in their styles of play or roles but if you try to compare the contribution, say, Iwobi makes to the team overall, you can’t, because it is plain to see what Iwobi brings to the side, which is definitely not the case for Pereira!
I’m always in two minds about Pereira I’m afraid. True he has been a part of a successful team, but I feel his contribution has not been particularly significant and if we had someone more effective in that position we could well be in a better place. I think he’s only scored once, can’t take a corner nor I seem to recall a penalty. Marco seems to see something in him(?) and he knows more than me, but when are we going to see it?
Simon is right inasmuch as we don’t have a ready made replacement, presumably someone is working on that. Would rather take the money and try to invest in someone more effective, easier said than done I guess, but they have had plenty of time to act.
Having an unhappy player in the dressing room surely must have a detrimental impact on the team.
Why not back all our players instead of using dubious foreign rumours to try and alienate fans against him? Pereira said in a recent interview that he is very happy at Fulham yet all the clickbait articles write is how he said he may leave which was taken out of context and badly translated.
I have to agree AP doesn’t bring much to the team neither in attack or defence and I would like to bring in someone who can add something else to the team so we can push for a place in Europe we are in a good position now and hopefully we can move on up. We also need a top class striker.
can you believe he makes the Brazil National team? Pele – Pereira, mmmmmmm
Mainly because it wasn’t taken out of context or badly translated, Joe.
Here is the video of Pereira saying he would be very excited to play under de Zerbi

Apparently, de Zerbi sees AP as a ‘top priority’ and is willing to pay more than 25M Euros – snap his hand off!
