Fulham forward Raul Jimenez says he’s working hard every day to keep the Whites climbing the Premier League table.
The former Wolves striker is closing in Javier Hernandez’s Mexican record of 53 top flight goals and told Tudn that he would be honoured to become the Premier League’s leading Mexican marksman. Jimenez has been in fine form since replacing Rodrigo Muniz in Marco Silva’s starting eleven and delivered a masterclass in centre forward play at Crystal Palace despite not finding the net as the Whites won back-to-back London derbies last week.
Speaking ahead of Mexico’s meeting with Honduras, the 33 year-old said:
“It would be a [moment of] great pride for me …. I hope as soon as possible to break the record to help the team climb positions. It would be a great pride to become that person, that player with the most goals in the Premier League, it is the fruit of all the work of these years in England.”
Jimenez, who has scored five goals and added two assists in thirteen appearances for the Whites this season, also reflected on how his perseverance has been rewarded.
“Working day by day, fighting to be here, is not easy at all. First at the beginning I was young, leaving my family, my first experience living alone, arriving at a team where I did not have the continuity I would have liked, never giving up, moving forward, looking for other options, with offers from other places.”
