Former Fulham winger Luis Boa Morte has applied to become Coventry City’s new manager, according to various reports this afternoon.
The Craven Cottage legend, who was presented with his Forever Fulham award during the Whites’ dramatic derby win over Brentford last Monday, is keen on succeeding Mark Robins at the CBS having left his role as Marco Silva’s assistant in the summer to become Guinea-Bissau’s manager.
The former Portuguese international spent three seasons as Silva’s assistant in SW6 as the Cottagers won the Championship and broke the sequence of yo-yoing between the top two divisions. Boa Morte has impressed in his first managerial role, with Guinea-Bissau still in with a shot of qualifying for this summer’s African Nations Cup finals. They face Mozambique in a winner-takes-all showdown in the final Group I fixture on Tuesday afternoon.
Boa Morte is one of more than eighty applications for the Sky Blues’ position with the Championship outfit also considering the credentials of former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, according to the Coventry Telegraph.
