Marco Silva was delighted after his Fulham side produced a professional away performance to beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground this afternoon.
Striker Raul Jimenez scored the game’s only goal from a contentious penalty six minutes into the second half and the Fulham boss was pleased with his side’s application that saw them hold onto a precious three points to lift them to sixth place in the Premier League table.
Silva told his post-match press conference:
“It’s a great three points for us and a great battle. A tight game as we expected. The boys did really well. When we had to keep our organisation and show our character in the last minutes, we showed it – from the first minute to be honest. The reality is [that there was] not one [clear] chance from Nottingham Forest throughout the game. I believe we commanded much more of the game and controlled the game on the ball.
If there’s a better defensive partnership than Andersen and Bassey, I can’t think of it. They were both superb and, in those eight additional minutes, it was Andersen, not Leno, who was barking orders in that crowded box. His aerial dominance was amazing to watch. Brilliant signing!!!
Sasa Lukic continues to improve and showed genuine commitment throughout.
But, let’s be real: Forest were no great shakes and there will be many tougher tests – starting next week in Manchester.
Others need to pick up their game including our most expensive signing, Smith Rowe.
Charles, your comments on Andersen is the reason Silva must give him the armband. For all Parker’s faults, he did make him captain, despite he was only a loan play.
For the short time Anderson has been with us he has shone. i cannot understand why Palace let him go.
I think we will give City a stern test this coming Saturday. City look more vulnerable this season and I’m sure that Marco will identify the weaknesses. COYWs
