Fulham Women eased into the third qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup with a 13-0 win at Epsom and Ewell in atrocious conditions this afternoon.
Sophie Manzi scored five times, with Sasha Adamson, who set the tone by opening the scoring with a superb strike in the very first minute, hit four and Georgia Heasman bagged a brace. Madi Parsonson netted with a trademark piledriver whilst Stella Morgan scored her first goal in Fulham colours midway through the second period in a dominant victory for the visitors at Cobham.
Adamson ensured Steve Jaye’s side made the perfect start by scoring from Fulham’s first attack with a precise finish, but dogged defending from the hosts kept their opposition at bay for another 23 minutes. Manzi, who has been amongst the goals in a lightning start to the new campaign, made it two with an assured finish after racing onto Heasman’s perceptive pass.
It took just three minutes for Adamson to get her name on the scoresheet again when she fired into the bottom left corner of the net from the edge of the area after being given too much space by the Epsom and Ewell defence. That sparked a flurry of Fulham goals before half time with the former Hashtag midfielder turning provider a minute later. Adamson picked out Manzi with an inch-perfect cross and the in-form forward buried a first-time finish with the minimum of fuss.
Adamson then completed her hat-trick within half an hour by sprinting clear of the Epsom and Ewell defence and latching onto a lovely through ball from Morgan before finishing flawlessly. Heasman then made it six with a strike of real quality from the edge of the box before Parsonson pinged home a powerful finish just four minutes later. Manzi then scored twice in three minutes before half-time to take her personal tally to four – first prodding home a Parsonson corner and then lashing in an instinctive finish inside the box – to give Fulham a 9-0 lead at the interval.
The former Dulwich Hamlet favourite wasn’t finished there, either. She extended Fulham’s lead just two minutes into the second period with an unerring finish. Epsom and Ewell remained committed to the end and conceded only three more goals in the remaining 43 minutes. Heasman tucked away her second of the afternoon, before Morgan hammered home her first goal since moving to Motspur Park over the summer and Adamson rounded off the scoring twelve minutes from time by slotting home after taking ball past a couple of defenders in the box.
