Stoke City are interested in signing Fulham forward Jay Stansfield, according to Football Insider.
The Potters are the latest side exploring a permanent deal for the England under-21 international after Fulham rejected an approach from Birmingham City, where Stansfield starred last season. The Whites are reportedly open to selling the Exeter academy graduate should the terms of a deal be right, but are thought to be looking for around £8m to part ways with the talented youngster.
Blues, now in the third tier, are expected to return with a second offer for Stansfield, who didn’t feature in Fulham’s final pre-season friendly against TSG Hoffenheim yesterday.
Foolish of us.
Why aren’t we giving our young players a chance no wonder we keep losing them, and then trying to buy them back again.
Letting him go to a Championship team for 8 with a buy back clause isn’t bad for all concerned…giving him the chance of regular first team minutes is the thing we can’t do.
Not sure he can be compared to Elliott, O’Riley or Carvalho right now.
Yes why, Liverpool has made a lot of money for Fabio
Criminal!
I didn’t know we were a feeder club for the big teams it will happen time and again Like the previous comments why don’t we just say yeah who wants our best Academy Players how do we know how good Stansfield is unless he is given games if he don’t succeed then let him go but, give the boy a chance Marco
Please keep Jay. Give him a chance.
There’s zero chance that he drops into League 1 and goes back to Birmingham-despite all the mindless drivel spouted by reporters.
He has proved himself, above and beyond, over the last two seasons.
Now we hear that he scored a brace in a behind closed doors 60 minute game against Hoffenheim-further proof of his ability to score goals.
If he was going to be transferred, almost certainly, he’d have been pulled from this game.
I’m backing him to make a Premiership impact, this season.
I hope you are correct Charles, it is such a shame that we don’t give the lad a chance, especially after Marco saying that Stansfield was staying with Fulham this season.
I think we should keep him. Let him start on the bench but give him some game time to see if he can cut it in the Premier League. Still not convinced about Muniz, if you take away his 8 game purple patch he was very ordinary. Are we intending to replace Joao because it’s gone really quiet on that front?
This lad scores goals – its a shame that we don’t need a striker,,, In a week that saw Fabio sign for The Bus Stop In Hounslow (even though we made over 4 mil in a sell-on clause) losing Stanno to Port Vale as well would just be too much. I hope Marco is going to begin putting him in the matchday squad because, I’ll say it again. this lad scores goals. COYW!!!
