Tottenham Hotspur put five past an inexperienced Fulham under 18s outfit at Motspur Park this afternoon.
The visitors, who beat Crystal Palace 6-4 on the opening weekend, went ahead in the tenth minute when centre forward Ellis Lehane lifted a confident finish over the advancing Marco Underwood after latching onto Luca Williams-Barnett’s through ball. Fulham levelled midway through the first period as Seth Ridgeon set up Basmil Lubega who finished a length-of-the-pitch move with a fine finish into the bottom corner, but Spurs stormed well clear as they dominated the second half.
Six minutes after the interval, Calum Logan picked up a poor pass out from the back and found Williams-Barnett, who threaded through Ronny Moncur and fired home from twelve yards out. Spurs extended their advantage just two minutes later when Lehane’s lovely flick fell perfectly for Williams-Barnett, who improvised an authoritative first-time finish as he lost his balance in the area.
Herbie James rounded off an excellent display with a well-taken goal twenty minutes from time as he followed up after Underwood had palmed a dangerous cross from the impressive Moncur. The away side completed the rout seven minutes from time when Tynan Thompson punished another poor pass by crossing from the left flank for George Feeney to turn home.
