Marco Silva saluted the ‘decisiveness’ of Adama Traore after the winger’s close range finish rescued a point for Fulham at Ipswich Town this afternoon.
The Fulham boss told his post-match press conference at Portman Road:
He created some good moments for other players, he is in good shape, he is helping the team and the reason why he is playing is because he can be decisive for us if he can take the right decisions.”
Silva said he was satisfied with a point but bemoaned a lack of a killer instinct in the final third once again.
It was a tough game against an aggressive side. They have great support which demanded us to win duels and beat the pressure. In the first half, we did this better than the second. They scored a goal in a moment where we looked comfortable and we should have done better [defensively].
The reaction [to going behind] from us was good, we scored a good equaliser and after that we took a step forward and were completely in control. The reaction from us was good, we scored a good equaliser and after that we took a step forward and were completely in control. We should create a lot more when we are on the ball, we have to be more effective in our build up and have more chances to score.”
Went to the game, I was not impressed. Having been busy in the transfer market and spent all that money we gave Ipswich their first points of the season. Ipswich will not survive in the PL.
I thought Stansfield would have done better than Muniz, he is not up to it this season he is struggling to find the net, as for Jimenez expect Wolves were rubbing their hands when they got shot of him. Why do we get rid of our young players and buy, what message are we giving to future prospects and the Academy.
I was also at the game. Lucky to come away with a point. Leno was excellent and needed to be. Did nobody tell Pereira our team were in white, he was constantly giving the ball away. Totally agree with the previous post, Muniz carries no threat at all, spends most of his time throwing himself to the ground looking for cheap free kicks. Team totally unbalanced, for most of the game nobody out wide on the left and made us easy to defend against
Awful performance.
Pereira, once again, giving the ball away with a sloppy pass, leading to their goal.
Smith-Rowe strolling around aimlessly. Despite his undoubted skill could turn out to be a poor buy. Horror, horror!!!
Chill out Charles!
Just being honest. Iwobi ditto.
Only Lukic, Leno and Tete earned their bread. Yet we scored a cracking goal and should have taken control- but didn’t.
Somebody, PLEASE explain to me why Silva thinks he is going to make a difference by making a triple substitution in the 87th minute!
Pereira has been somewhere else since the start of the pre-season friendlies. Personally opinion, we should have taken the 20 mill plus on offer.
Like Charles just don’t understand these last minute substitutes, they don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of influencing the game. Utter madness.
I, like so many others, think that Stansfield is a far better scoring option than Muniz. Perhaps that will change, he did have a purple patch once for a few games. Who can say?
One can only say, things will improve as the new signings come in. Can’t afford to wait too long Marco, like your substitutions.
Silva’s substitutions are baffling . Perhaps he should go up in the stands to watch the game and he will get a better prospective on whats actually happening on the pitch and where change is needed. When watching the game the fans can see the failings and they all can’t be wrong identifying where change is needed. I’m afraid, MS makes weird subs at silly times like he did against United, which led to their goal.
Troare was our only threat going forward . Lukic was great again and Tete seems to making the right back position his own. Muniz looks out of sorts and is constantly missing fairly easy chances. I am not a Pereira and he has done nothing this season. His corners are awful I Would like to see Andersen playing from the start as he is a leader
My main worry is I can’t see many goals coming from Muniz or Jimenez perhaps a proven striker should have been brought, I was at the game yesterday why does Perriera take all the free kicks and corners some of them were abysmal when was the last time we scored from a free kick is this practised at training?
Do we have a plan B if Muniz and Jimenez don’t score are we relying on our Midfield Maybe give Adama or Wilson as a Striker I am sure Adama would upset a few Centre Backs,I found out we tried to sign Matt Targett late in the window does that mean Sessignon would play in midfield who knows
I have to agree with many of the comments already made on this post. The positives Lukic has been brilliant and should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Tete deserves an extended run at right back.
Traore for all his faults terrifies the opposition with his pace and he has started scoring. He is our best attacker at the moment. Now the downside. Muniz has lost it and I wonder if he just had a purple patch and has now gone back into his shell. My biggest criticism, like others,is Pereira . His corners and free kicks are terrible someone else needs to take them. Why he starts every week is beyond my comprensham. He should have been sold for the reported 25 million plus rather than Stansfield. Finally start with Anderson and at least put Sess on the bench he can play as a left winger
Muniz is absolutely awful every goal he scored last season worried me because I knew it wouldn’t last and TK would use that as an excuse to not get in a proper striker to replace mitro and now we are going to be stuck with Muniz. Stansfield if not going to buy woulda been a much better shout. I fear it’s going to be a season of ups and down but ultimately I think we are lucky that the promoted teams and a few others are worse than us. We had known Paulinha was going from January yet we still leave it to the last minute to get replacements in and the ones we’ve got in he doesn’t start bar ESR.
Charles the reason people tell you to chill out is you’re so reactionary. Smith Rowe has one poor/average game (which most players did) and you’re now saying he could be a poor buy. maybe hold your tongue every now and again before you pontificate to everyone
