Fulham have submitted a second bid for Crystal Palace centre back Joachim Andersen, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The Whites saw their initial £20m offer for their former defender rejected over the weekend, with the Eagles reportedly valuing the 28 year-old at around £40m. Fulham’s improved offer is now said to stand at around £25m up front with another £5m in add-ons. It remains to be seen if Palace would sanction a deal to sell Andersen in this window, with some reports on Sunday suggesting that they could offer the Dane a new deal to ward off Fulham’s interest.

Andersen, who has two years to run on his current Selhurst Park contract, has made 112 appearances in three years with the Eagles, scoring three goals. The defender made a real impact on loan at Fulham in 2020/2021, shoring up Scott Parker’s leaky defence, but was unable to prevent Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League at the end of that season.

Marco Silva is said to have made the recruitment of at least one more centre back a priority having signed Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal after the Whites lost Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream on free transfers this summer. Fulham have also had an offer for Diego Carlos rejected by Aston Villa – but discussions between the clubs continue over a possible deal.
