Spanish central defender Jorge Cuenca has joined Fulham from Villarreal in a deal worth an initial £6.7m.
The former Barcelona academy graduate has signed a four-year contract at Craven Cottage – with Fulham holding an option to extend that deal by twelve months. The versatile 24 year-old is expected to be able to deputise for Calvin Bassey on the left side of central defence, although he has also lined up often at left back as well.
Cuenca told FFCTV tonight:
“I’m really, really happy. I’m so proud to be here. I’m so happy to be here and to play for Fulham. The club is an historical club and Craven Cottage is an historical stadium. I prefer Fulham because of the city, the club, obviously the historical stadium, and I want to play in the Premier League.”
This is an interesting signing. He’s tall and, from all reports, solid. He’s also young, and he will push Bassey.
Now ,we need a right sided centre back ,a defensive mid and a keeper and the window will be a sucess!! And we need to rid of Mbabu and Vinicious before the window shut !!
Things are starting to look better but why aren’t we paying the extra 5 million for Andre who we have been after for 2 years it doesn’t make sense.
Looks like we are trying to see who flinches first with André, be nice to see it completed and am sure it will, but yes playing lowball / hardball does not always work
Time will tell……
We need to sign a CDM quickly, we cannot allow all the responsibility to fall on Harrison Reed, this is not going to end well.
Just like the past 4 seasons, we are having a good transfer campaign. Most of the players we bought served us well, obviously there will always be some exceptions, but all in all the work done by Tony Khan is really good. On another note, has anyone seen the loose pass of Tosin and his disastrous outing that lead to City hammering Chelski by 4 goals? This guy thought of himself as being too good for Fulham. I bet a tenner than he won’t figure more than 10 times in all competitions this season.
its looks a good signing to me especially at the price and he play central defender and left back. Andre is the signing i was hoping for but at the moment it is not looking promising. we seem to be persisting with McTominay who clearly does not fancy playing for us, Have we lost interest in Isaak Toure who looked a good an inexpensive opinion to me as a right sided central defender especially considering his age
In his YouTube clips he looks pretty solid with far better distribution skills than dear Tosin, who started his Chelski career where he left off at Fulham. If his acquisition means we make less errors playing out from the back that is a plus in itself.
Still having difficulties coming to agreement with Flumenese over André, and it’s been dragging on for too long now as well as Scott.
I would prefer André as he wants to come to Fulham so up the offer to 26m + add ons. Should be enough ?
