Blackburn Rovers will test Fulham’s resolve to keep hold of striker Jay Stansfield as they seek to sign a replacement for Sammie Szmodics, according to Alan Nixon.
The veteran reporter suggests that Rovers are confident they could sign the England under-21 forward for around £6m. Birmingham City had two offers rejected earlier this summer and Fulham head coach Marco Silva revealed last week that the Premier League side had also turned done several approaches by Championship clubs.
Silva has insisted that Stansfield, who was a late substitute as the Whites suffered a heartbreaking loss at Manchester United on Friday, will be staying at Craven Cottage as part of Fulham’s first-team squad.
Would be stupid to sell at that price, every one’s raving about him all prices are sky high but media always seem to price our players on cheap
The question is, will Silva use Jay and give him pitch time? How can he be judged when given only 4 minutes of additional time to show his skill. I get the feeling that Silva has no faith in youth players and only paying lip service to show he has a weaker squad. If that’s the case let him go and disband the academy. What’s the point?
I worry that if he lets Stanfield is allowed to he he will end up like Matt O’Reilly who we let go early. Look at what he’s achieving at Celtic.
I’m also concerned with how much we seem to be depending upon Muniz. He’s like a new born foal all legs and keep falling over.
As they say one swallow doesn’t make a summer. I hope I’m wrong but we need back up.
My last post was all over the place at the beginning. Sorry.
We should not sell him.
Tony are you ‘on’ something?
