Joachim Andersen has returned to Craven Cottage this afternoon – signing for Fulham for the second time in a £30m deal from Crystal Palace.
The Danish defender, who will once again wear the number five shirt, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Fulham holding an option to extend that deal by a further year. The 28 year-old, who made 31 appearances on loan as Fulham were relegated from the Premier League in 2020/21, spent the last three years at Selhurst Park – playing 113 games for Palace, scoring three goals.
Andersen told FFCTV:
“It’s really nice to be here. Feels a little bit like coming home, so it’s a good feeling. Of course, I know the club, I know how Fulham are playing, I know many players, I know some staff, so I didn’t need anyone to convince me because I knew a lot of things already.
I had some good talks with the manager. I know the playing style he likes to play, so it was just a decision I needed to make myself, with my wife and family, and see what’s the best for me, and I think this is a good step for my career.”
Did he sign in time to play tomorrow
Brilliant signing, he looks and plays like typical Fulham player….well done Marco and Tony, this just what we need.
While watching him playing for Denmark in the Euros in my heart i was always saying that we we were not relegated, Andersen would still be our player. I cannot be happier to have him back. CoYW!
A real captain at last!
