Fulham have revived their interest in Fluminense midfielder Andre after the departure of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich, according to BBC Sport.

The Portuguese international’s move to Germany has left Marco Silva in dire need of a replacement at the base of the engine room. The Whites were close to signing the Brazilian international last summer and have the fundamentals of a £25m in place following negotiations that were personally led by chief executive Alistair Mackintosh.

Andre, aged 23, helped Fluminense lift the Copa Libertadores title last summer and has since been capped by new Brazil boss Dorival Junior. There are suggestions in the Brazilian press that the midfielder’s representatives are poised to fly out to London to cross the is and dot the ts on the final agreement.
