Fulham have joined the race to sign FC Koln centre back Timo Hübers, according to reports in Germany this afternoon.

The 27 year-old is available for around £3m as interested parties can trigger a release clause in the centre half’s contract after Koln were relegated from the Bundesliga last weekend. The versatile defender, who can also play at right back or in central midfield, has made 93 appearances in three years at Koln and previously spent five seasons with Hannover 96, where he played 38 first-team games.

Hübers, who has played Europa Conference League football with Koln, hasn’t ruled out staying with his current club but has attracted interest from right across the continent this season and is keen to evaluate various proposals. Fulham are one fo the clubs who have watched him regularly over the course of this campaign and are in the market for a right-sided centre back, with Tosin Adarabioyo set to leave Craven Cottage at the end of his contract next month.

Sky Germany are reporting that the Whites will face competition from Wolfsburg amongst others.
