Fulham are close to agreeing a contract extension with winger Bobby De Cordova-Reid, according to The Sun’s football correspondent Alan Nixon.
Both sides were confident that the Jamaican international would put pen to paper on a two-year deal, having been a key figure in the Whites’ revival since Marco Silva took over at Craven Cottage. The 31 year-old has been offered a new two-year contract with a significant wage increase after Fulham triggered the twelve-month extension option in his previous deal last January.
The former Bristol City forward has made scored 32 goals in 209 games since moving to Craven Cottage from Cardiff City initially on loan in August 2019. De Cordova-Reid, who is part of Fulham’s leadership group and captained the first team on three occasions last season, has played in a number of positions, including right back, and hit the winner against Arsenal on New Year’s Eve.
Sorry but did I just read he’s been offered a significant wage increase? Are we for real? BDR’s strength is he is 6 out of 10 in about 4 positions. But he isn’t 7 or 8 out of 10 in ANY position. That makes him a useful squad player but not a name that should be in your starting 11. No wonder he’s close to signing. An increase in salary with what he delivers at 31….I’m genuinely shocked.
I don’t see other clubs frantically competing for his signature. At 31 there is no sell on value, so why gives two year contract on more pay? It makes no sense. If he wants to stay, no problem, but the club dictates the terms and pay.
