Fulham’s matchwinner Alex Iwobi says there’s ‘no better feeling’ than scoring the winner at Old Trafford – after Marco Silva’s side won at Manchester United for the first time in more than twenty years.
The Whites took a second half lead through Calvin Bassey but Harry Maguire looked to have rescued a point in the last minute of normal time. Fulham lost twice late on against United last season after taking the lead but kept flooding forward and were rewarded in the seventh minute of injury time when the Nigerian international restored the Londoners’ lead.
“We always had the ability to create chances, we had so many in the final third, it was just about taking them and luckily I was able to take mine at the end. I’m over the moon right now to come back into the team and get the win here at Old Trafford – there is no better feeling.
We feel we performed really well and have been performing really well recently, it is just about getting the results. This will give us a world of confidence and hopefully kick on. Everyone’s emotion is high and we will have to dust down, but it is a confidence boost. It’s a win for the memory bank.”
All round excellent team performance. Really good to see the progress Muniz has made and to see Lukic start to reach the level you’d expect of him. So pleased to see Traore cream Maguire:)) Only seen the extended highlights and delighted to see the impact Cairney can have. Quality player who seems to improve with each game. There’s something really satisfying beating Man. U, particularly as we’ve outplayed them consistently over the past two seasons. Well done lads, you made my week.
Brilliant win the only blip was Leno failing to gather the ball and pushing the ball back to Maguire to score late on its not the first time he has done this and it’s something Marco has to sort out as it very nearly cost us points again, i thought Iwobi was man of the match and Muniz was good also, maybe it’s time to give Rodak a chance.
