Fulham are the frontrunners to take Armando Broja on loan after Chelsea changed their stance on the specifics of the transfer to facilitate movement on deadline day.

The Blues are eager to make space in their squad in order to be able to bring in a striker of their own in the closing hours of the transfer window and have now dropped their demand that any deal includes an obligation to buy. Chelsea want a sizeable loan fee in order to secure the services of the Albanian international, believed to be in the region of £5m, with Fulham weighing up how much to pay to sign Marco Silva’s top target.

Broja – an unused substitute in Chelsea’s defeat at Anfield last night – has scored twice in nineteen appearances under Mauricio Pochettino this term having recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury but the 22 year-old is unlikely to be a regular starter once Nicholas Jackson returns from the Africa Cup of Nations. Silva sees Broja, who scored against Fulham at Craven Cottage in October, as an ideal target man to supplement his striking resources with Raul Jimenez set for a spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring against Everton on Wednesday.
