Fulham duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi had starring roles last night as Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 to reach the quarter finals of the African Cup of Nations.
Former Fulham winger Ademola Lookman scored both goals, with Bassey winning the free-kick that led to the crucial second on 90 minutes after showing some silky skills down the left wing. Iwobi created what Nigeria thought was the opening goal for Seyi Ajayi but his finish was ruled out following a VAR review.
The Super Eagles, who have conceded only one goal in their four matches at the tournament, will play Angola in the last eight on Friday.
No doubt the poor souls when they return will need a month off to recover.
Bit of a qeird comment, Martin. These guys have been completely committed since they’ve joined
Hoping they got knocked out early we need them back. Would feel the same if it was Fulham players playing for England. We live in a cosmopolitan world now, we’re players can pick more than one country to play for its boring
