Fulham captain Tom Cairney says he’s content to pay a big bill fix his windscreen for the second time in two years – after Rodrigo Muniz damaged his car with a wayward shot at Motspur Park following in the foosteps of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Cairney told Fulham’s official website this morning:

“Our strikers are rubbish at shooting! No, there are these massive, giant nets in between the goal and the car park, and somehow Rodrigo’s took a shot that’s hit the crossbar, spun up at the perfect angle and just landed straight on my windscreen. I was inside at the time, and then all the boys came running in laughing and screaming, ‘TC! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!’ And then I knew exactly what had happened.

But two in two years is crazy! [Rodrigo] offered to pay for it, but I said no. It’s just one of those things isn’t it, so that’s £900 down the pan! Carlos Vinicius was laughing so much that I thought it was him at first, but it was his Brazilian friend …”

The Scottish midfielder won’t be changing his preferred car park, either. “I could, but I think it’s good for team morale!” he said.
