Fulham’s under 18s completed a comfortable away win over Walton and Hersham’s first team at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub this evening in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Goals from Chibby Nwoko, Callum Osmand and Chibby Nwoko secured a comprehensive 3-1 win for the young Whites, for whom first-year scholar Josh King delivered another accomplished display in central midfield. The Cottagers hit the run with only a matter of seconds gone when Lemar Gordon nipped in to intercept a poor pass across the home defence being picking his moment to play in England under-19 international Nwoko, who drove home emphatically.
The hosts replied with a spell of concerted pressure that saw Michael Allen have to claw out a floated cross-cum short from Walton and Hersham’s Harry Mills. A corner from Olyott was headed against the bar by the home defender before Osmand doubled Fulham’s lead from close range when he headed home from a couple of yards out when Aaron Loupalo-Bi’s shot was parried.
Fulham made it three immediately after the restart when Olyott tapped in at the back post after exceptional approach play from Osmand, who squandered a great chance from four yards out by missing the target seconds after the restart. Walton and Hersham did get a goal back in the dying embers of this contest when a low shot from distance beat Allen and nestled into the bottom corner.
