Fulham’s Finnish under-21 international forward Terry Ablade has joined Carlisle United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Ablade, who has scored 25 goals in 87 games for the Whites since joining their academy from FC Jazz five years ago, made his Fulham debut as a substitute in last August’s League Cup defeat at Crawley Town. The speedy forward spent the season half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at AFC Wimbledon playing twelve games – ten of them as a substitute.

He will go straight into Paul Simpson’s squad for Carlisle’s trip to Port Vale on Saturday and becomes United’s eleventh signing of a busy summer. Simpson has lost the services of last term’s top scorer Kristian Dennis and Ablade will compete with the likes of Sean Maguire and Ryan Edmondson for a place in the starting line-up.

Simpson told Carlisle’s website:

“We’ve known about him for a while and I’ve seen things in him that I think will mean that he’ll come here and cause teams problems. He’s got pace to burn and that’s something we need. I think this is going to be a really good addition for us. He’s the type of player who gives us more options across the front places. He can play as a striker, or on the left or right, and he’s one who will excite the fans when he really gets himself going.

I’m excited that we’ve got it done, he was really keen to come once we started having those conversations with him, so let’s see how he goes from here. He’ll train today, we’ll get him involved in the reserve game we have tomorrow, with a view that ideally he’ll be involved in some way with us at the weekend.”
