Marco Silva was forced to sprint to safety last night as he was caught up in a fierce storm in Washington DC as high winds uprooted a tree.
The Fulham head coach, whose side conclude their Premier League Summer Series commitments with a derby against Chelsea in Maryland tonight, was on his way to a British Embassy reception with Aston Villa manager Unai Emery and Brentford boss Thomas Frank when the storm hit. A tree narrowly missed landing on the trio, who ran for cover, whilst new Chelsea supremo Maurico Pochettino immediately return to his hotel to seek sanctuary.
The British Embassy cancelled their garden party – leaving Silva with time to ponder over his team selection for the SW6 derby at the home of the Washington Commanders.
