Following this afternoon’s results, Fulham will finish their first season back in the Premier League in tenth place. Chelsea’s defeat by Manchester City also means that Marco Silva’s side will finish above their sanctioned neighbours for the first time since 1982/83. Congratulations to everyone at Fulham Football Club for this monumental achievement.
It is worth reiterating that our near neighbours spent in excess of £300m after being beaten at Craven Cottage in January only to draw 0-0 with the Whites in the return fixture a few weeks later. We’d like to congratulate Todd Boehly and Frank Lampard on their stellar success.
There’s only one team in Fulham.
One team in Fulham since 1879. What a season from the boys and you too, Chlo!
It was 40 years ago today: that Fulham taught Chelsea to play
They’ve been going in and out of style
But they’re guaranteed to raise a smile:
It was in the middle of October
That Chelsea ‘Mounted’ the League with a Cheek.
With Kovacic and Thiago Silva
But it would only last for a week
Casemiro scored right at the finish!
T’was disappointment for new man Potter
Chelsea celebrated with a small Guinness
As fourth place glory was perhaps on offer
Next up was perfidious Albion away
Surely Chelsea could easily hold sway
Havertz scored, a true Chelsea brother
But no, as Cheek and Chalobah scored for the other!
Fulham beat Leeds and were two points behind
And Chelsea might discover some new find
They had plenty of moolah to offer
With their stolen new hero Mister Potter
Then Fulham lost to Manchester twice
No Guinness for us, just beans and rice
But Chelsea lost too,
And were right in the poo,
As Newcastle looked really nice
The World Cup then came and went
And Potter was able to vent
As Chelsea beat Bournemouth, Potter cheers!
But Captain Ream, just in a Leicester dream,
As Mitro started our Fulham new year
So January was a big challenge
Fulham away, who are they, just James and Welsh Wizard Wilson
2-1 to our boys, with lots of Cottage noise
Who had thought of four wins, Carlos and Willian?
In February Fulham kept on winning
As the Saints saw the Chelsea goals were thinning
Just one in a month, Fulham had the most
Four goals, we had Forest, and Hove too (a bit lucky) on the Coast!
Was a tough March onward for our boys
Brentford and Arsenal were both a big ask
Down at the Bridge, a 1-0 win against Leeds
Were Fulham up to the task?
But poor ‘Pots’ was on his last April legs
No win against Villa [he’s gone] nor the Reds
A loss to Wolves, just one goal
And it’s Brighton again! Oh Welbeck: What a blow!
Fulham had so much more in the tank
First Everton, easy-peasy, then Leeds
Chelsea sank to the Bees,
So an unhappy Yank
Found Fat Frank for their April deeds.
Then with one last May push
Five goals versus Leicester – just a breeze
Two more v the Saints – a last rush
Chelsea draw with Forest! what a wheeze
So we cheered our boys at the Cottage
As star Mitro took a point off Roy’s Palace
with TC, Jedi and Kenny Tete,
Whilst Chelsea lose again – to the City!
Now Marco Silva’s the man we should thank
For beating Chelsea, this season, and Fat Frank
My Cheers go to Leno, to Mitro and Willian,
Pereira, Reed & Tosin, Harry & Solomon,
Not forgetting Diop, BDR, Capt. Ream and (the man!) Palhinha.
