Marco Silva is looking forward to being back on the touchline when Fulham face Leeds United in tomorrow’s early kick off.

His sending off at Old Trafford prompted the meltdown that saw the Whites given three red cards in a minute and left the Fulham coach banned for two games as well as £20,000 poorer after admitting he had used foul or abusive language to the match officials. Silva was stationed in the stands for the defeat by West Ham and Saturday’s victory at his former club Everton and is desperate to be back in the dugout.

He told his pre-match press conference this afternoon:

“It is my place, it’s where I should be always. Of course, it’s really important for me – for all the managers – to be there. As you know, I was always with my players. Before the match, after the match, to share the feelings with the players on the touchline is always important. Of course the vision (view) is completely different but it’s something that I would like to not experience again.”

Silva has set his sights on achieving a top flight Fulham points record. Their best campaign in the top flight – when Roy Hodgson’s side finished seventh in 2008/09, saw the Whites finish with 53 points. Silva’s current charges are now on 42 and have eight games left.

It’s our main target right now. We are always trying to find different targets. We got one of the main ones last week and now we have to go for the next one and that is to try to beat the number of points that will make history again in this football club. That’s really important, that we are breaking some important records, and the next one is there for us to try and do.

We have to go game by game – not just this season but even last season when the target was to be champions. We approach it in this way and keep doing our best to better ourselves for the next match, always. Of course it’s important to have that target ahead of us and if for some reason we get it, and we have to work really hard to do it, we are here to set another one.”
