Fulham have been linked with a January move for Preston North End’s Ben Whiteman by The Sun this afternoon as they look to strengthen to in central midfield.

The 26 year-old has starred for North End since moving from Doncaster Rovers two years ago and his eye-catching technical skills are a product of his time coming through the ranks of the Manchester United academy set-up. The Rochdale-man midfielder has scored seven goals in 87 appearances at Deepdale and has previously attracted the attention of Watford.

The Sun suggests that Fulham eye him as a cut-price domestic alternative to some of Marco Silva’s top targets and, with only eighteen months remaining on his current contract, Whiteman might be available for around £5m.
