When Ivan Toney chose to celebrate bringing Brentford level in the west London derby on Saturday by mimicking Aleksandar Mitrovic’s goal celebration, the Bees’ centre forward must have known he was risking tempting fate. The Serbian striker wasn’t content with breaking Brentford hearts by climbing majestically to meet Kevin Mbabu’s last-minute cross and scoring the winner.
Mitrovic – known to dislike the media commitments that come with being a matchwinner – offered his own personal riposte following the final whistle. Today’s Times quotes the Fulham number nine discussing Toney as follows:
“Everybody has idols. He used to play with me in Newcastle and he was my boy. My idol was [Alan] Shearer and I am probably his idol.”
Nice one Mitro, Toney has egg on his face after trying to belittle Mitro and his not fit to lace his boots ????
Genius response from Mitro
Solid gold
Enjoyed Toney being made to eat humble pie. I do think he said it best himself though when he said ‘F**k Brentford’, shows the complete lack of class of the man
I was there and it was obvious to all that Toney is talented but a bit of w**ker.
Hopefully he’ll learn to be a little more humble after making a total di*k of himself at the Cottage! lol – Come on you Whites!
