There are reports this evening coming from Marcelo Hazan and corroborated by a number of other leading Journalists that Fulham have made a bid of €10m euros plus add-ons for the Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, who is currently on loan in Brazil at Flamengo.
The 26 year-old midfielder has scored twice and added one assist in his nine appearances in the Brazilian top flight, but he has expressed a desire to return to Europe to prove himself and Fulham are apparently interested in offering the playmaker another Premier League opportunity. It would be some turnaround for Marco Silva to bring Pereira to Craven Cottage, given Fulham’s refusal to loan him in the early part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s reign.
Pereira has made 75 appearances for Manchester United, scoring two goals and four assists in the Premier League, but struggled for regular game time at Old Trafford with the Red Devils in transition after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. He has always been highly-rated and may well slot into the number ten spot soon to be vacated by Fabio Carvalho. With the rumoured signings of Palhinha and Solomon in the coming days, Silva’s midfield could look much sharper by the start of the Whites’ pre-season preparations.
Why this obsession with Mid field Players. How many are we going to sign A Goalkeeper, two central defenders and a back up for Mitro is what is required
@Malcolm – We have lost three midfielders this summer already and currently have a starting midfield of Cairney/Reed/Chalobah with Onomah/Decordova-Reid as the only backups. Signing midfielders is much more important than goalkeeper and striker.
That said I think most of the frustration is that we’ve not signed anyone at all as yet. Pereira is a decent player and maybe a good signing, but I’ll believe it only when I read the terrible signing pun.
Is it me or am I dreaming. I thought we were after a keeper, a defensive centre back. An d a forward.
Instead we are after a whole new team if all the reports are true.
We done this the first time we got promoted.
Problem is Alan, that apart from a couple of exceptions, we need a whole new team because most of our players aren’t good enough to start in the Premier League. It’s OK to admit that, and better to do so now than a few losses into the season.
