Carlisle United are keen on taking Fulham under 23 skipper Sonny Hilton on a season-long loan next season.

Hilton was one of Fulham’s leading performances as Steve Wigley’s side stormed to the PL2 Division 2 title last term, scoring nine goals and adding twelve assists in 26 games. His influence as captain of a young side was rewarded with a contract extension last month but the 21 year-old, who spent three months in Finland on loan at TPS, last summer is desperate for regular senior football.

The former Tranmere Rovers midfielder is well known to Carlisle boss Paul Simpson from his years in charge of England’s under 20 side but the Cumbrians, who finished twentieth in League One last term, are unlikely to be the only side interested in Hilton’s services.
