Fulham are keen on signing Serbian veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic after he leaves Manchester United this summer, according to the Sun.
The Whites are aiming to tempt the 33 year-old former Chelsea midfielder back to West London after Matic opted to leave Old Trafford at the end of his current contract. The holding midfielder, who spent five years with Manchester United, could add considerable experience to Marco Silva’s engine room as Fulham look to survive in the top flight after winning the Championship.
Matic, who won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, made 23 league appearances for United this term and has opted to move on with Eric ten Hag poised to take charge at Old Trafford. The same Sun report also suggests that Fulham will battle the likes of Leicester City and West Ham to sign Joe Worrall should Nottingham Forest fail to win the Championship play-off final.
At his age and towards the end of his career on high wages is not what the club need I would much prefer a younger quicker hungry player . Give this one a miss please
Malcolm, if we can get him for 1-2 years it will be an absolute coup. He provides some much-needed Premier League experience, and with the number of players moving on this summer, his wages shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Does he come with his own wheel chair, what are we a retirement home for old players who are over the hill, if Tony Khan can’t do better than this I suggest he should also retire ffs.
Personally speaking I would welcome it if Tony Khan had no involvement in Fulham’s transfer dealings. He should leave it to the professionals!
Early days in the window just yet, he will be one of many we’re checking up on this summer. Worth a punt if he doesn’t come too expensive
Good idea. You can’t stay up by only signing young players – which is the same, tired argument most people trot out every time we’re linked with someone experienced. With his quality, he’s far better than anyone else we could get, and we only need him for a year or two while we stabilise at this level. You don’t do that with only kids and Championship players, you do that by mixing in some seasoned Premier League pros. Agree his wages are likely to be a problem though, especially if he’s got competing offers in Europe.
Why does Tony Khan yet again get involved with transfers we still have not learnt our lesson if this carries on we will lose Marco Silva has Marco Sanctioned this I bet he hasn’t same with the Chelsea spy last season Loftus Cheek Matic would be Ok short term but we need someone younger but will they come to Fulham still need six or seven proven players GK LB 2 CBS DMFD and another proven striker to help Mitro but let Marco get is own players
Does anyone know what’s happening about Kongolo is he staying at the club no one ever mentions him is he moving on or what
Should have got rid of Kongolo a long time ago but Tony Khan with all his Knowledge decided to give him a new contract while he was still injured, he would have to be our worst signing ever but TK will never admit he got it wrong again.
