Fulham head Marco Silva has lavished praise on Nottingham Forest ahead of the Whites’ meeting with Steve Cooper’s side tomorrow night.

No side has picked up more points in the second tier than Forest since Cooper took charge at the City Ground and the former Swansea manager has transformed his charges from relegation candidates to a team pushing for promotion to the Premier League. Silva, speaking during his pre-match press conference at Motspur Park this afternoon, knows Fulham will face a tricky test at Craven Cottage.

“I have to be fair with them, with Steve as well, it’s fantastic what they are doing. When we played against them in the first half of the season, we won the game 4-0, but the result definitely didn’t reflect the game. We deserved the win, but it didn’t reflect how the match was. It was too hard on them, in my opinion.

We spoke about it, we had a chat at the end of the match, how they can improve, and he was really positive that they could do good things. They’re playing good football, with some young players at a very good level as well, some signings in January that helped them to be stronger as a team, and now they are in a very good position.

No-one expected that when he started managing the football club, but he’s doing fantastic. It will be a tough match for us, they keep fighting for something really important, they are there, they are a good team, quality team who can create problems for us.”

Silva has demanded Fulham go out and secure the Championship title after the disappointment of conceding a stoppage-time penalty to Dominic Solanke in Saturday’s draw at Bournemouth.

“Our season has been fantastic, our players have been brilliant, promotion was a great achievement for us. We fight to get the best from the competition, that is to get the title. Now we have three more matches. We have to go again, and it will be a great feeling if we can achieve it. We are going to fight and give our maximum to achieve the title.”
