Marco Silva says he has no concerns about Fabio Carvalho’s state of mind after the teenager’s proposed move to Liverpool collapsed in the dying stages of transfer deadline day.
The 19 year-old attacking midfielder, who has scored seven goals in outstanding season as Fulham have stormed to the top of the Championship, looked set to seal a late switch to Anfield on Monday night but Liverpool failed to complete the paperwork to ensure he was loaned back to the Londoners, which was a condition of the sale.
The Fulham head coach told his press conference ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Manchester City that Carvalho remained in high spirits and was fully committed to Fulham for the remainder of the season.
“What I can say is that Fabio is really happy. The day after the situation, I saw him with the same smile on his face like always. He enjoyed the session and worked hard. That’s the main thing.
He’s with us until the end of the season. He’s really happy with us and the main thing for me is that. If you try more and more to renew and he will not renew, or he goes to another club, this I can’t control or we can’t control as a football club. What I’m sure is to keep taking the best from him, I’m 100 per cent sure that Fabio will give his best for the club as well definitely, like he is doing so far. This is the main thing. Of course, after, if we as a football club we can do something, to try to change the scenario that would be perfect. But I can’t control that.”
I wish Fabio would change his mind and stay with Fulham for a few more years
