Marco Silva felt Fulham were well below par after the league leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackpool at Craven Cottage this afternoon.
Aleksandar Mitrovic fired the Whites in front in the sixth minute but Fulham struggled to recreate their fluent football of recent weeks and Neil Critchley’s side were well worth Josh Bowler’s second half equaliser.
A critical Silva told his post-match press conference:
The result was not good, it was disappointing. We started brilliantly against a team that changed everything to play against us, their normal approach, but we did it very well. We scored a really good goal, and there was a great chance for Harry to score the second. The way we were playing, I could smell the second goal was coming.
Unfortunately, we had a break as our fan was in a serious situation and our thoughts are with him. We expected some changes from them after, but the game was under control. It was a bad performance in the second half, we played too slow and when you play slow, you give belief to the opposition.
Blackpool weren’t proactive but waited for our mistakes. Then we lost some principles in our mode, and when that happens, it’s difficult. The second half from the referee was really bad, the way he managed the game. It was many small decisions and it’s difficult to understand why he always stopped the game. I prepare my players to control everything, and when we analyse things, we’ll find what we did well and what wasn’t good.”
We need a to take a reality check if we are going to the premiership this was simply not good enough, that’s 4 points taken from us and we didn’t know how to break them down and we need a plan B to do that. Very disappointed with that result.
Our defence was wide open, No Plan B. Hopefully just another blip. What was point of bringing Muniz on as well as playing Mitro up front when no one was crossing the ball. Whilst I dio not rate him on this occasion Knockhaert should have been introduced much sooner> Another central defender a priority. As least we will have Seri back soon as he adds something to the team
Marco Silva: “Yes, he has scored twice against us. Yes, he is a decent player at this level. Yes, I admit there was interest but, no, we will not pursue our enquiry. Why? It’s the hair, man. That head band. Seriously, you imagine such a look at Fulham? No, no. It will not happen while I am head coach”.
Seriously, that was so poor. For ten minutes we looked really up for the game. There’s no doubt that the unfortunate break gave them the opportunity to re-set and they were way more up for it upon the restart; pressing high and challenging fiercely in midfield. Connolly and Dougal were allowed to get away with their niggling nastiness by yet another pathetic referee and our midfielders just didn’t rise to the challenge. Even our own terrier, Harrison Reed, was reduced to a bit part in the second half.
Apart from some trickery early on, Kebano just never showed up.
I totally agree with Malcolm B-what is the point of bringing on Muniz when the issue is the lack of creativity?
This seems to be Marco Silva’s go to plan B every week-and it NEVER works.
At the back, Odoi spent so much time passing backwards that he should have been wearing a tangerine shirt and, first half, he was so error prone.
Tosin had his worst game of the season and Ream did little to inspire confidence.
At least we didn’t lose and I guess we can make allowances for the odd lapse in performance levels after the multitude of joys that the team has given us this season.
We committed many mistakes in the back line. Odoi and Tosin were just asking for it. But our reaction should have been stronger. I guess we can’t win all the time. COYW
