Fulham midfielder Jean Michael Seri was named man of the match tonight after starring as the Ivory Coast begin their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a win over Equatorial Guinea.
Seri, restored to the Fulham engine room by Marco Silva this summer, delivered a composed display in the heart of the Ivory Coast midfield. He distributed the ball with his customary poise but was integral to preventing Equatorial Guinea making any headway through the middle of the pitch – regularly breaking up play with gusto.
Ivory Coast’s captain Max Gradel settled a tight contest with an absolute screamer from 20 yards after just five minutes. The Elephants sit top of Group E and face Sierra Leone, who drew with Algeria in their opening fixture, on Sunday afternoon.
Take note Spurs and Man Utd, happy contented players deliver. Previous managers at Fulham wasted Seri, Marco Silva has made him feel welcome and important….look at how his performances have blossomed.
