Marco Silva insists Fulham will take nothing for granted after putting seven goals past Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park tonight.
The Portuguese head coach was delighted with his side’s thumping victory – which leaves them just two points behind league leaders Bournemouth – but is refusing to get carried away after five straight wins. He told his post-match press conference:
“Fantastic win for us. We know that it’s just three points, though. We have to be balanced and humble enough to know that we did fantastically, scoring seven goals in this competition away from home and keeping a clean sheet, the numbers are there and that’s fantastic for us. But they are just three points.
We have to be happy, we have to definitely congratulate our players. They have fantastic momentum, we want to keep it, but in the meantime we have to keep our feet on the floor, be humble, and start to prepare for the next one. You always have to be like that, even though everyone is really happy and our fans are proud of us and that’s everything that we want, but we have to know that this competition is a marathon. But of course we are happy.”
Silva stressed the importance of putting together a longer winning run to take Fulham clear of the Championship’s chasing back.
We have to keep going. We know that we will not win all the matches, but I don’t want to see backwards steps again like we had, because that winning mentality and consistency is everything that we’re trying to achieve. Tonight we showed that. I told our players during half-time that okay we scored two goals and started the game really well, we were efficient really as we had two chances and scored two goals, but I told our players that we have to keep that winning mentality, so I’m really pleased with the way we won the game.”
Was watching on French paid TV – ( whilst listening to FFC radio Gentlemen Jim) … …Silva really staring to get these lads to work together … great to see Hector back . … On Mitro he is a real team player two assists , falling back , giving support and on TV you can see him hugging , praising and joking with Muniz . As If 7 goals and clean sheet not enough , the evening was magical with “he who shall not be named” on the south coast slipping up at Preston
Exactly right comments. With 4 lower half teams in our next 4 games the only risk is complacency and attitude.
I’m starting to anticipate the arrival of Parkerball at the Cottage in December with much excitement. COYW
