Maxime Le Marchand was the unheralded half of the double deal that also brought Jean Michael Seri to Fulham from Nice in July 2018, although documents filed in French courts suggested the defender actually cost the club more than the Ivorian midfielder. Le Marchand was never a regular at Craven Cottage, but became a cult hero on account of a catchy terrace song that celebrated his arrival. The centre back, who could also play at left back, made 48 appearances before signing for Strasbourg in August 2021.
