Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is having a medical at Fulham this afternoon, according to Talksport.
The Argentinian custodian, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Elche, was heavily linked to Fulham following their promotion last year and would offer competition to Marek Rodak, who is expected to be Marco Silva’s number one this season. He is available on a free transfer after leaving Spurs earlier this summer. The Whites released Marcus Bettinelli last month and Spanish goalkeeper Fabri, who has made two senior appearances since joining the club in 2018, is expected to be loaned out again.
Gazzaniga, 29, spent four years at Tottenham – making 37 first-team appearances since following former manager Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton, where he had played 23 games in four seasons after signing from Gillingham. He has one international cap for Argentina having appeared as a substitute in a friendly against Mexico in November 2018.
Liked the look of him when he played few games for Spurs
Why the fuck did we let Marcus go if we still neded a keeper .
Always been total class and loyal .
Dont get that at all
Marcus leaving was mutual because he wasn’t going to be guaranteed the #1 shirt – which is only right, because he’s not better than Rodak. He didn’t want to spend another season being at best #2. The confusing thing about his situation is that he’s being touted for teams like Chelsea, where he’ll never get beyond #3.
As for Gazzaniga, most Spurs fans would pay us to take him. Not rated there AT ALL.
Steve, Betts turned down a contract extension we offered him. He wanted a new challenge, departed with him on good terms
Not true Andy, a lot of us Spurs fans like him. He’ll be good for you.
Thought he was decent when he deputised for Lloris at Tottenham. No risk here as a free agent.
