Former Fulham academy graduate Josh Maja returned to Craven Cottage in February 2021 on loan from Bordeaux in a bold bid to try and keep the Whites in the Premier League. Though that audacious ambition was ultimately doomed to fail, Maja did score three times in fifteen appearances as Scott Parker largely picked him ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic. The striker’s first goals secured a special win at Everton and he converted a penalty late in the season at Arsenal before a controversial late equaliser effectively ended Fulham’s hopes of staying up.
