Reuben Loftus-Cheek arrived at Craven Cottage on loan from Chelsea in October 2020 with aspirations of reviving his England career but left lucky to still be featuring in a faltering Fulham side. The midfielder, who appears to have all the attributes to shine at the highest level, frequently failed to impose himself in fixtures whilst still being preferred to more industrious options by Scott Parker. Loftus-Cheek scored just once – a deflected goal against Everton – and missed a number of chances with his Fulham career encapsulated by a woeful piece of control that cost Fulham their lead at Arsenal in stoppage time and effectively relegated the Whites.
