Fulham are among a clutch of Championship clubs chasing Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to a report this morning.
Spurs are ready to allow the American centre back, who has had loan spells with Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City over the past three years, to leave White Hart Lane on loan again to gain further first-team football. Fulham are eager to add to their defensive options after Alfie Mawson’s injury scare last week and yesterday’s disappointing defeat on the opening day at Barnsley.
Scott Parker will face stiff competition in trying to bring in the centre half from Tottenham, where he spent a season coaching their under-18 side. Leeds, West Brom, Derby, Middlesbrough, Luton and Barnsley are reportedly all interested in bringing in Carter-Vickers, who made 30 appearances for Swansea last season in the Championship.
The 21 year-old, who has won eight international caps for the United States, has made four first-team appearances for Spurs, all of which came in domestic Cup competitions.
Why oh why haven’t they tried to sign him sooner. We still need another fullback and a midfielder or two. I expect there will be a desperation signing or two on deadline day instead of planned targets signed in good time during the window. I thought Parker would have known better.
You can only get the players you want when their parent clubs are willing to let them move so stop whinging and see what happens ?
We definitely need him and an RB and another CB. A controlling creative attacking centre mid as well please.
For a side supposedly one of the favourites for automatic promotion to lack any sort of intensity or basic desire to fight for a win as was evident at Barnsley yesterday has restored a sense of reality – we are a team of over-paid, under achieving, second rate players. Whoever is in charge of transfers cocked it up disastrously last year and it appears nothing has changed. Division One here we come.
Why didn’t we try to get Kalas back, Bristol City only paid £8m for him……….or anyone at the back with a bit of quality actually!. Look, we are where we are though, we’ve got to get behind the boys we’ve got for the moment.
WHy not OPUKO…Why Arter or Onomah when we have the best all round midfielder on our doorstep..Matt O’Riley FFS play the guy not keep him as 19th man…this club is so screwed up its unbelievable!!!!!
Do you not think he’ll come as part of the Sess deal?
It’s a foregone conclusion surely that it will be part of the deal with a few of their players coming this way and Sess going the other…
Agree we need a RB and 2 CB’s minimum, but am not convinced Scott Parker is responsible for the apparent failure. He knows the game and knows players. This has got Tony Khan written all over it, IMHO.
We have no passion and desire to win games we play very slow no speed from our trio of midfielders. Three box to box midfielders is what we need Come on u Whites
saw the championship games on TV have to say we were the slowest and lightweight fulham that is !
