Powerful defender Idris Odutayo, who is adept at operating in the left back position or in central defence, made an immediate impression after making his under-18 debut as a sixteen year old. He signed a scholarship deal with the Whites in July 2019 and his aggressive style – combined with his flair on the ball – caught the eye of first-team coach Marco Silva. Odutayo went on the first team pre-season tour of Portugal, playing 45 minutes in a 2-0 win over Nice, and shone on loan at Maidenhead during the 2022/23 campaign. He gained further senior experience during the Premier League Summer Series in America earlier this year.
