Likeable left back Joe Bryan wrote his name into Fulham folklore by scoring a match-winning double against local rivals Brentford to win the Championship play-off final in 2020. His first goal, a sensational long-range free kick that surprised David Raya, immediately became an iconic moment, enriched by the fact that it took place behind closed doors owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bryan’s arrival at Fulham was also something of a special tale as he raced down the motorway from Birmingham to sign for the Whites having been about to join Aston Villa. His whole-hearted performances and regularity as a supplier of regular goals for Aleksandar Mitrovic, made him popular with the Fulham fanbase even before Wembley, whilst his bravery in opening up about his mental health struggles earned Bryan respect beyond football. The Bristolian is currently on loan at Nice.
