Fulham’s pursuit of Calum Chambers seems to have come crashing to a halt over Arsenal’s valuation of the England international.
According to a report in this morning’s Times, the Gunners want more than £22m for their 23 year-old centre back and it is believed that Fulham would not countenance meeting such a hefty asking price. Chambers was priced out of a move to Crystal Palace last summer when Arsenal asked their London rivals to increase their initial £16m bid to £27m.
It remains to be seen whether Chambers, who has made 83 appearances for Arsenal since moving to the Emirates from Southampton in an £18m deal back in July 2014, will be made available for loan by new Gunners boss Unai Emery. Fulham are eyeing other central defensive targets and the Daily Star reports that the Whites are closing in on a deal for Tomas Kalas, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Craven Cottage.
