Chris Martin will serve an immediate three-match suspension after Fulham’s appeal against his sending off at Norwich on Friday was rejected.
The Scottish international was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow on Norwich defender Mitchell Dijks towards the end of the first half by referee Andy Madley. The visitors were incensed by the decision and Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic confirmed that the club would submit an appeal after the final whistle.
The disciplinary panel has upheld the referee’s original decision and Martin will now miss Fulham’s next three league fixtures – leaving the on-loan striker available for the potential play-off place decider against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Sunday May 7.
