Larnell Cole is currently on trial with Charlton Athletic as he looks to finalise a move away from Fulham.
The former Manchester United midfielder has been told he can leave Craven Cottage by head coach Slavisa Jokanovic having barely featured for the club over the past year. Cole, who came through the youth ranks at Carrington with a big reputation, joined the Whites on transfer deadline day in January 2014 when former United coach Rene Meulensteen was at the helm and made his only first-team appearance as a substitute in the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford the following month.
Following Meulensteen’s abrupt sacking, Cole was considered surplus to requirements by Felix Magath and sent on loan to Milton Keynes. Having drifted further away from the first team picture, he had two loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and has now joined the Addicks on trial with a view to reigniting his career. The 23 year-old, who can play wide or in the centre of midfield, played 80 minutes for the League One club’s Under 23 side against Colchester United yesterday afternoon.
