Fulham signed Greek international Kostas Mitroglou on deadline day in 2014 in the hope that he would score the goals to fire them out of relegation trouble. The reality was somewhat different: the only goal Mitroglou, who cost £12m from Olympiacos, scored was in a reserve team outing before his debut. He made just three first-team appearances, expressed a desire not to play in the Championship and left the club for Benfica in May 2016 in a cut-price deal.
