Slavisa Jokanovic felt Fulham were good value for their draw at Huddersfield Town this afternoon.
Ross McCormack took just two minutes to extend his remarkable scoring record against the Terriers, firing the visitors in front after intercepting a shocking pass from Jonathan Hogg. But Fulham were pegged back by their former defender Mark Hudson and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Jokanovic said afterwards: “We scored very fast and if we had scored one more we would have won. We need a stronger mentality and a killer instinct for winning the game. We also need more training and there is work to do. We need to be more competitive.
Our obligation is to play better football than we are playing right now. With more time, with more training, and if we can bring people in next week on loan, we can make these steps. This [draw] is not my target, my target is to win the game.
Generally I believe we are starting to improve, but there is still a big space in front of us. It’s important for us and soon I think we can compete with every Championship team. And that’s it: simple. We need to be more solid, we need to still be more prepared to compete. This is a competition for big boys.”
