A rueful Kit Symons had no excuses for Fulham’s 5-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth.
The Cherries did the double over the Whites on a Friday night to forget having won 2-0 at home on Boxing Day, but this was far more comprehenisve.
In fact, the last five minutes couldn’t pass quick enough for the Fulham boss as Bournemouth poured forward in search of a sixth after defender Fernando Amorebieta was sent off first game back following a three month lay off.
“We never got going,” Symons said. “They were a different level from start to finish. It was very frustrating.”
Fulham stay where they are in 20th place, still eight points clear of the drop zone, but because of the Friday fixture having played a game more than sides below them.
“We need to get as many points as we can between now and end of the season as soon as possible,” Symons added.
“We are conscious of what’s below us. No one is under any illusions – you’ve just got to look at the table. Everyone is fully aware where we are.”
